Services for Children and Families

We welcome children in Church: Jesus said “let the children come to me“. Please do not hesitate to bring your children along.

Totternhoe has Jesus And Me Church (JAM) designed especially with children in mind at 4pm on the first Sunday of each month. We also have a family friendly meal as part of the service.

For more details, see our Service page.

Crèche Corner:

Young families are very welcome in church and we hope that all ages will join in our worship. Each church also has a crèche corner with carpet, soft toys, picture books and colouring where parents are welcome to spend time with their children if this is more comfortable than the pews. There is often another adult available to help if required.

Schools

We visit our Schools regularly to bring a short Christian Assembly, and welcome visits from our schools for special services in church.

Stanbridge Lower School

We are a small, happy, caring and friendly community school where the life of our school is linked strongly with the lives of our children, parents and the local community.

We believe in our children and encourage all children to reach their full potential by providing a nourishing and positive learning environment where all children learn and succeed.

Stanbridge is an inclusive school which recognises and values the individuality of each child. We believe in promoting the key values of honesty and integrity, encouraging all children to become good citizens. We teach the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics alongside a creative curriculum which links learning experiences and brings the curriculum alive for children. We have a strong teaching team at Stanbridge and because of this our children achieve well and make good progress. The curriculum celebrates the diversity and utilises the skills, knowledge, and cultural wealth of the community while supporting the pupils’ spiritual, m oral, social and cultural development.

Our school is situated in the beautiful rural village of Stanbridge. It is an historic building where many generations of children have been educated. The children benefit from a large open field at the rear of the school, an environmental area with a pond, large wooden play equipment, a story telling circle and a trim trail. The front playground is kept open for traditional playground games and there is a court area for sport.

Totternhoe C.E.
Academy

We, at Totternhoe CE Academy, strive for excellence in education by providing a safe, secure, caring family environment, where all are valued and respected as individuals, enabling them to reach their full potential, whilst growing in their love and understanding of the Christian Faith.

Our local village school joined the Diocese of St Albans Multi Academy Trust on 1st February 2018, becoming Totternhoe CE Academy. The school has maintained links with St Giles’ Church in Totternhoe over many years. In fact, when the school first began in 1867, it was a Church school.

Today, the school enjoys opportunities to worship at St Giles’ Church, at harvest, Christmas, Easter and at the end of the summer term. The children lead and participate in the services and these are always well attended by parents/carers and wider family members. The church provides a warm welcome for our pupils and families. In addition, the Church is an excellent resource for learning across the curriculum, eg.  in RE and local history studies.
